Important Info About How To Connect! READ!

Today, l337Espeon and I decided to switch the server over from Chicken132's bans system to one that we found that will not mess up and crash the server.

Unfortunately, to implement the new bans system we also had to upgrade the server binaries. This posed us with a problem for our players.

The new server binaries require the user to run Garry's Mod 9 using the Source SDK Base.

You can do it a few different ways:

1.) Use the Patcher Application to change the appid of your Gmod9 to the SDK Base.
You can get the patcher here: https://eevee.facewan.com/downloads/gmod9-appid.exe
Note: For this method, You WILL have to restart Steam for the changes to take effect!

OR

2.) Add the server to your steam favorites list (NOT in game, from steam itself) and connect that way.
Note: For this method, every time you want to connect to the server, you have to join though the steam favorite servers menu to launch the game.

OR

3.) Change the appid in your gameinfo.txt file from 220 to 215 by going to your gmod9 folder (usually C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\gmod9 or C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\gmod9.) and opening the file gameinfo.txt. Find where it says "SteamAppId 220" and change 220 to 215, so it should now read "SteamAppId 215". Save the file and restart Steam.
Note: For this method, You WILL have to restart Steam for the changes to take effect!
Hmm
I downloaded the .exe file, ran it, and all it does is sstay there playing some creepy song. It doesn't do anythiung else... What am I doing wrong here?

I was told to click a button that says "Patch" but it doesn't show up. This stupid thing cuts off the farthest right stuff

Nope. Doesn't work. Just brings me to the page to buy HL2:DM.

Yeah, I don't have HL2:DM, because apparently it doesn't come with HL2 if you buy the Orange Box. <_<

I also tried typing connect into the console, then the IP. But all it does is play the opening music and stay on the "Sending Client Info"

It probably has to do with the fact that it needs to download the SDK Base content, just restart Steam and see if it downloads the content.

Hmm
I have it set with the desktop shortcut modified so it says it's launching Source SDK Base when I launch GMOD 9 through there...

I am also getting the problem that Dave is getting.

....Alsooooo
After doing that, when I try to go to other servers, it says my account does not own Garry's MOD. >=(

This is now an issue with gmod9 in general at the moment. Valve's content servers are fucked up again, so give it a few days and the mountfileystem failed error should go away and you'll be able to launch gmod9 again.

Thanks or the link, now I have DM installed. ^_^

Now, if you could just find one with a free Counter-Strike: Source Offer. :P
is anyone gona ansure my question??

The Steam error is fixed! Now everyone can play Gmod9 again. Valve must have fixed their content servers.

you need half life 2 to run gmod 9 (or gmod 10) ...... lol

Wrong. Gmod9 uses content from CS:S and HL2, so you need them both. (where do you think the swep models come from!) and as for Gmod10, HL2 is not even needed, you just another game that uses the Source2007 Engine (HL2:EP2, TF2, Portal.)

what about the snapshot errors?
:wcc:When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! GET MAD. I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that BURNS YOUR HOUSE DOWN!:wcc:

Snapshot errors cannot be avoided as we would have to limit the amount of props in the server, which would be too low for everyone.

A "Snapshot Error" means that there is too many props in the server to send you the locations of them all. When you join the server, before your able to see anything, the server sends your client a list of what prop is where and everything else. Where there are lot of props, this list gets huge, and when the server tries to send you all the locations, your client gets overflowed by how many props there are, thus giving you this error.

I'm noticing a problem. No matter how I try and connect, I get an error: "Server uses different class tables.".

Grab the copy of gmod9 from the forums here in the downloads thread and then do this:

Change the appid in your gameinfo.txt file from 220 to 215 by going to your gmod9 folder (usually C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\gmod9 or C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\steamapps\SourceMods\gmod9.) and opening the file gameinfo.txt.
