It's one of those trick questions with several possible answers.
1) There are no ladies, bags, cats, kittens or toys. They are a metaphor that we all must consider. However, their true meaning is yet undiscovered.
2) The ladies are in fact transvestites going to a party and the cats and kittens are, themselves, toys.
3) It's a state of Zen. We are the women and the bags, cats, kittens and toys are the emotional baggage we carry.

By the way, this post was just to make me look smarter than I really am.
But just think about them. They soon make sense.

Maybe the ladies are all communists? Therefor, what belongs to one lady belongs to all the ladies, so there are only 8 bags, 8 cats, 8 kittens, and 8 toys. (this is also assuming that the cats and kittens are communists too.)

The answer is still 11.
