its not apart of the map, its a 3d skybox for god sake. also if you knew anything about mapping you'd know there is a light environment........... also the texture of those mountains would look blurry and like shit if i used a "bigger" texture /dumbass

Right, if you're going to be an ass about it, lets play your game.
Keep in mind, this post is going to be my TRUE opinions. Not holding back to break your feelings.
First of all, I don't quite think you know who you're talking to.
I've created more maps AND spent more time on hammer than you'll ever know.
My last map surf_anthropomorphic was a massive success. Even though it's FULL of furfaggotry.
WHY you ask ? Because it's greatly designed and very well optimized.
So to talk to me like I know nothing is nothing else than absolutely retarded and disrespectful.
So lets start with your skybox.
It's a 3d camera based skybox that you UNDOUBTEDLY built in a smaller ratio than the map it's for. This can cause texture blow ups (make them look like shit / pixelated). I recommend you either create a more "sized" skybox for your map or simply don't use a camera based skybox AT ALL.
If you look at shimmer, there's no camera based skybox entities. ONLY a endless skybox. It's the looks, not the work.
I know a ton about how lighting works in the source engine, frankly, I know enough that it even scares me.
That looks pretty much full bright to me. You need to change either the brightness, degree or add a fucking sun to it. Because I see nothing but same exact lighting through the entire playfield.
But okay, let's put LIGHTING aside and head over to the water.
I've created maps with over 30 different types of water. Telling me that water changes color due to the fact it's in a skybox actually makes me feel sorry for you.
The ramps are split into sections with indentations that many players like myself have to skip (glide away from) in order to keep as much speed as possible.
Some would argue this is a stupid argument and the ramps are what make banocanyon - banocanyon.
The water textures (that are NOT part of the skybox !!!) you've selected are complete shit and it hurts my brain to even look at them.
I also hope you made the ramps func_details. :3
Nafrayu also brings up a good point. Some water textures actually require cubemaps in order to create correct light bounces off of water/textures.
That in mind, it's still DOESN'T make your water black or tinted. *Water only looks like this when there's a leak*
It effects metal textures is such a way that when you use mat_specular, you think it's an entirely new map !
I like the fact you're one of the type of people I used to be.
It also brings me great joy to see someone interested in maps/skyboxes as I was.
Take my post as you will. I'm just trying to help your map get liked, not shit on.
I used to do this as well, it's what made me learn the hard way.
TLDR:
Use other water textures (source has about 50) and fix your lighting and skybox.
A env_sun wouldn't hurt as well.
