Can't connect to your server

I used to be able to connect to your Gmod9 server but now it says "Server is out of date.."
I can still connect to all other gmod9 servers. Is there some place I can get your version or if you can upgrade to a good version.
Thats odd.... Usually its the exact opposite for people, I didn't change anything recently, so it must be something you did with your client. Try reinstalling gmod9.

You have two options:
A) Connect via the server browser in Steam, not the game. View servers, filter by Gmod9
B) To connect in-game: Right-click the server on the list, view it's properties. Select the address, and copy it. Open the console, type connect, then paste the address. It will bypass the check, and just connect you.

Yeah, I can't actually connect to anything properly. At first, running Gmod off of HL2 (app 220) Made it so I could connect, but now I can't connect at all with that. Going of the SDK base (215), I have to use one of those tricks to connect just about anywhere.
Compuwiz, did you update your shortcut? If so, try running the game through the above methods, (though I don't think there is any difference in running the "Connect ____" command in the console than clicking "connect") rather than starting gmod up via shortcut.
Going through console worked.
Thanks

For some reason it skips all the checks it usually makes. It'll connect you whether it thinks you can or not. The only time this doesn't work is if you really ARE incompatible.

oh, I never knew that.
if you can't connect

hi
I know what to do if you can't connect to other servers than facewan or to facewan
1.if you can't connect to other servers
first go to program files
than you go to steam folder
than you klick on steamapps
than source mods
gmod 9
in that map will be a notepad document named gaminfo
open it,there will be a sense : SteamAppId 220
if you WAN'T to connect to facewan it has to be : SteamAppId 220
if you DON'T WAN'T to connect to face wana but you want to connect to
the other servers you have to change
SteamAppId 220
in to
SteamAppId 215
restart gmod and steam
and you can play on the server you want

greets,defcon.1:cool:
when you have changed the gameinfo notpad you have to save it
otherwise it will not have effect...

Oh, so THAT'S why I have the reverse problem as everyone else.
I was running 215, which I had to do originally just to be able to connect to ANYTHING without crashing.
Then the SDK updated, and I couldn't connect to anything. So I tried switching back, and was able to connect.

Then I had to switch back to 215 again for the same reason as going back to 220.
theres also one thing u can do that works quick. just go into steam then gamelist then right click gmod9 and create desktop shortcut. then right click the shortcut choose properties then click the shortcut tab. ull see the name target well next to that in the box scroll to right and ull see 220 just change that to 215 then hit apply and ok . now anytime u want to join any facewan just enter through steam anytime u want to join other servers just use the desktop shortcut. thats how i got mine setup just make sure the game file is set to 220 and the desktop is 215.
And again, anytime you want to enter ANYTHING:
Connect via the Steam "server" window, instead of in-game. Or, if in-game, right click the sserver, select"View properties", copy the address (String of numbers, usually. Web address otherwise) open the console, and type "Connect <address>"
Don't need to screw around with app IDs that way.
